Team Jacobs wins gold at Winter Olympics

SAULT STE. MARIE - Brad Jacobs and his Sault Ste. Marie rink will leave Sochi, Russia with an Olympic gold medal in men’s curling.

With a 9-3 win over Great Britain’s David Murdoch, Team Canada captured the gold medal for a first place finish at the Olympic Games.

“Congratulations to Team Jacobs on being gold medalists in Sochi. It was an honour watching our young men realize their dream and bring home the gold. Their hard work and determination has truly paid off. They have represented themselves, Sault Ste. Marie and Canada in an exemplary manner. What a proud moment,” says Mayor Debbie Amaroso.

Team Jacobs includes: skip Brad Jacobs, vice Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden, lead Ryan Harnden, alternate Caleb Flaxey and coach Tom Coulterman.

City of Sault Ste. Marie CAO Joe Fratesi is extremely pleased with the performance of Team Jacobs and states: “When anyone of us does well in the Sault, our whole community shares in the sense of pride and accomplishment that follows. Thank you, Team Jacobs for bringing us all along on the Olympic journey to gold. Your home town could not be any prouder than at this time.”

Sault Ste. Marie curling team makes Canada proud at Sochi

SAULT STE. MARIE - On behalf of the Ontario Government, I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to the Brad Jacobs Curling Team - Skip Brad Jacobs, lead Ryan Harnden, second E.J. Harnden, third Ryan Fry, alternate Caleb Flaxey and coach Tom Coulterman - on winning the gold medal in men’s curling at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, said David Orazietti MPP, today.

Team Jacobs are true ambassadors of our community, our province and our country and have shown the world what team effort, perseverance and sportsmanship can accomplish.
