Sault Ste. Marie OPP officers kicked off the spring seat belt campaign with enforcement activity across the detachment area.

Twenty-eight persons were charged with failing to wear their seat belts.

A public information campaign was also conducted in Echo Bay in conjunction with the STARS [Sault Traffic and Road Safety], the community traffic and safety group.

While compliance rates were high people still gamble with their lives and health by refusing to wear their belts.

Six passengers were also charged for not wearing their seat belts.
