************************* Sault Family YMCA to partner with Sault Search and Rescue

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - (March 3) - Sault Search and Rescue and the Sault Family YMCA are pleased to announce that the Dragon Boat Festival, which has been an annual event in Sault Ste. Marie since 2000, will continue, with the Sault Family YMCA taking on the role that was previously undertaken by the Sault North Rotary Club.

Dennis O’Reilly, president of Sault Search & Rescue, is excited to be working with the Sault Family YMCA and is thankful for the support that the Sault North Rotary Club has provided to launch and maintain the Dragon Boat Festival in Sault Ste. Marie. “We would like to thank Sault North Rotary for partnering with us over the past several years in organizing and operating the Dragon Boat Festival," said O’Reilly. “The proceeds from team pledges provide much-needed funds for our organizations. We look forward to a new partnership with the Sault Ste Marie YMCA and encourage teams from the past and new teams to get involved."

Martin Wyant, chief executive officer of the Sault Family YMCA, thinks that partnering in the Dragon Boat Festival is a perfect fit for the YMCA.

“The Dragon Boat Festival is a fun, activity-based event. We are looking forward to working with Sault Search and Rescue to build on the success that has been achieved with the Dragon Boat Festival."

Jeff McWhinney, spokesperson for Sault North Rotary Club, is pleased to see that the Dragon Boat Festival will continue to be staged in Sault Ste. Marie.

“After 10 years of partnering with Sault Search and Rescue to stage the Rotary North Dragon Boat Festival, Rotary has passed the torch to the YMCA to take over as a partner. The YMCA has always been an integral part of the festival. We are confident that the new partnership will help the festival to continue to flourish and be better than ever!"

Teams that have participated in previous dragon boat festivals are encouraged to contact at Chris Ganton, for information about registration; 705-949-5178 extension 309 or [email protected]
