Wrong-way ambulance crashes on Gore St

Sault Ste. Marie police and fire services are investigating an early-morning crash over the weekend involving a local ambulance travelling the wrong way on Gore Street, SooToday.com News has learned.

There was one patient onboard the ambulance when the crash occurred around 6:35 a.m. on Saturday.

The ambulance was unable to proceed after it was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Gore and Queen.

Another ambulance was summoned to continue transporting the patient.

Fire Chief Lynn McCoy tells SooToday.com that no one was injured.

McCoy said he was upset by the incident and a full investigation is being undertaken, with disciplinary action possible against a local paramedic.
