World Down Syndrome Day focuses on opportunities

Locally, the Sault Ste. Marie Down Syndrome Society meets once a month as well as holding events

The Sault Ste. Marie Down Syndrome Society is continuing to meet with regular meetings held on the second Thursday of each month.

Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. and the group is in the process looking for a regular meeting place.

Last weekend, the group held a bowling night for local families and their friends.

Tuesday was World Down Syndrome Day with a theme of "With us, not for us."

The goal of the day is to help people with Down Syndrome be treated fairly and get the same opportunities everyone else does.

More details on the Sault Ste. Marie Down Syndrome Society can be found on its Facebook page.
