What’s known as a ‘blocking pattern’ in the upper levels of the atmosphere has been responsible for a significant run of warm, dry weather to the Sault region.

This pattern slowly starts to break down this week allowing for a gradual return to more active weather every several days.

The first bout of that active weather arrives Tuesday in the form of a cold front.

Monday will be mainly sunny with temperatures a couple degrees above normal.

Tuesday will see clouds move in during the morning, followed by a growing chance of showers by late afternoon.

A cold front is likely to arrive by early evening, bringing a chance of thunderstorms to the region.

Wednesday will see us on the cold side of that front with temperatures falling below normal under cloudy skies.

Thursday will bring some sunshine with temperatures climbing back to seasonal values.

Friday will be even warmer with a chance of daytime highs reaching +20C.

More active weather and storms are possible to start the weekend.
