But wait - will there be a new rash of complaints from shoppers who are petrified when they see clowns? David Helwig/SooToday

The snowflake banners that have been frosting some peoples' garters downtown are finally being removed.

SooToday quoted Downtown Association general manager Josh Ingram earlier this month as saying that the controversial snowflake banners would be replaced "any second now."

Today, two million seconds after Ingram's promise, they were taken down on the north side of Queen Street, replaced by new banners promoting the first Fringe North International Theatre Festival planned for August 10-20.

Ingram said that new banners created by the Downtown Association will be put up on the south side of street, probably tomorrow.

Those banners will be covered in four-letter words.
