************************* MDOT to present I-75 Business Spur resurfacing plans

WHAT: Staff from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Newberry Transportation Service Center (TSC) will be present to discuss plans for a resurfacing project on the I-75 Business Spur, scheduled to begin in mid-June.

WHO: MDOT Newberry TSC staff, Sault Ste. Marie city officials, interested residents and area business owners. WHEN: Wednesday, June 4, 3-6 p.m. WHERE: Sault Ste. Marie City Commission Chambers, City Hall, 325 Court St., Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Special accommodations: 906-293-5168

MDOT will cold mill and resurface the I-75 Business Spur/M-129 intersection, and will microsurface I-75 Business Spur from the Power Canal to Portage Avenue as part of its 2008 capital preventive maintenance program.

The project is scheduled to start Wednesday, June 11, and be completed by Thursday, July 3.

The microsurface work from the Power Canal to Portage Avenue is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Friday, June 13, and will be completed by 10 p.m. Sunday, June 15.

During this time, access to Peck Street, Library Street, Dawson Street, and Arlington Street will be restricted for short durations, and traffic will be detoured onto adjacent city streets.

Two-way traffic, with flag control, will be maintained at all times on I-75 Business Spur at M-129, with access maintained to all business and residential drives.
