Participants in the Algoma Steel Hockey Tournament are helping to address Sault Ste. Marie's physician shortage.

This Saturday evening, tournament director Hal Mogg will present a cheque for $17,000 to Northern Ontario School of Medicine Founding Dean Dr. Roger Strasser and Manager of Development Gail Brescia during a ceremony at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The money will help to establish a Bring A Doctor Home Bursary at the medical school.

The contribution will be matched by the Ontario government.

The bursary will grow with each year that the tournament raises donations.
