SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO (September 17) – Community Quality Improvement (CQI) has won the National Quality Institute’s Canada Awards for Excellence - Silver Level Award for Community Building.

This is the first time in the history of the Canada Awards for Excellence that the National Quality Institute has recognized a community’s efforts in improving quality of life on a holistic level.

“We couldn’t be more excited, more thrilled,” stated Ken Coulter, CQI’s executive director.

“This award recognizes our city’s incredible ability to work together toward common goals, ultimately improving quality of life for all our citizens” Coulter added.

Mayor John Rowswell acknowledged: “The Building an Extraordinary Community (BEC) process set a course to better our community and improve our quality of life. I am extremely proud of this community and CQI for their diligence and hard work, their leadership in advancing growth earning this prestigious Community Building Award”.

The Canada Awards for Excellence is an annual awards program to recognize excellence in quality, customer service and a healthy workplace.
