******************** OPP investigate fatal motor vehicle collision (GOGAMA) – South Porcupine OPP officers are currently at the scene of a single motor vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle which left the roadway and entered the west ditch on Highway 144 in Doyle Township (north of Gogama) at approximately 10 a.m. this morning.

The 63-year-old driver, Verena Atchison from Chelmsford, Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 144 was closed sporadically during the morning and into the afternoon today at the scene of this collision.

South Porcupine OPP officers along with OPP technical traffic collision investigators are investigating the collision.

Emergency crews from Timmins Ambulance, the Timmins Fire Department and the Mountjoy Volunteer Fire Department were also at the scene to render assistance.
