Woman accused of throwing knives at BF

************************* CHAPLEAU, ON - On April 15, the OPP were dispatched to a Chapleau residence regarding an alleged domestic assault.

Investigation revealed that the male complainant had allegedly been assaulted by his girlfriend during the early-morning hours by being punched in the head with a closed fist followed by being struck with a lamp.

This resulted in minor injuries to the complainant.

The female then attended the kitchen area and began throwing objects including knives at the complainant.

Although the complainant was not struck by these objects, damage was caused to the interior of the residence as a result.

It was further alleged that a quantity of pills were stolen by the suspect.

As a result a 41-year-old female was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences;

- Assault with a weapon.

- Assault.

- Possess property obtained by crime.

- Fail to comply with undertaking x2.

- Mischief under $5,000.

- Theft under $5,000.

************************* RIDE

Several RIDE/ seatbelt checks were conducted throughout the Superior East patrol area resulting in 400 vehicles being checked and two seatbelt charges being laid.

There were also three warnings under the Highway Traffic Act.

No other infractions were noted. The OPP remind all motorists to always wear your seatbelts while travelling on our roadways.

Seatbelts do save lives and failure to wear your seatbelt can result in a $110 fine and two demerit points.
