Sault Ste. Marie — St. Joseph Island

Winter Weather Travel Advisory in effect for today.

Snow squalls off Lake Michigan continue to affect the area this morning. The squalls are expected to weaken and move out of the area later this morning or early this afternoon. It is expected that the strongest activity will remain east of the city of Sault Ste. Marie.

Additional snowfall accumulations of 2 to 5 cm are possible in some areas.

Travel conditions along Highway 17 between Sault Ste. Marie and Elliot Lake are likely to be hazardous at times. Motorists are advised to watch for quickly changing weather conditions and adjust their driving accordingly.
