It's in this morning's edition of the Windsor Star, so it must be true, right?

The best pizza in the world is made right here in Ontario.

In Windsor - home of the Spitfires!

This sadly misinformed assertion is attributed to Andre Blais, owner of Bodean's, an award-winning restaurant chain in London, England.

Originally from Windsor, Blais was back in his hometown this past week with a chef and a restaurant designer, conducting research for a Windsor, Ontario-themed pizza joint that he wants to start back in England.

Windsor Star reporter Anne Jarvis reports that Blais' customers back in London include actor Jack Black and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page.

Yet, he has somehow convinced himself that Windsor - not Sault Ste. Marie - is the centre of the pizza universe.

There are even supposed to be blogs about Windsor pizza on the Food Network's website and the online Chowhound forum.

If that's not enough, there might even be a Trivial Pursuit question about the subject, the newspaper asserts.

Want to make a perfect pizza?

Don't slice the pepperoni, silly!

In the perfect world of Windsor pizza-making, you shred the pepperoni.

And further, the crust needs to be baked in a stone-lined oven for seven minutes at 550 degrees Fahrenheit.

Faithful SooToday.com reader Kevin B. isn't biting on any of this.

"I regularly have debates with Windsorites, that the Sault has the best pizza," says learned and urbane Kevin. "They are almost as arrogant as Red Wing fans about their pizza. I told them that the Sault's worst pizza is better than Windsor's best. "We need to start a committee and have a non-biased decision on this very important issue. I cannot stand by and allow this misinformation to continue circulating. I can guarantee all of the Sault peeps living in Windsor will defend Soo Za!"

The naive and unenlightened Mr. Blais hopes to open his new London pizza joint late next year.

For true pizza-poser authenticity, he's going to decorate the place with Windsor Spitfires souvenirs and play Motown music.

SooToday.com suspects our readers will have something to say about all this.
