It was a very windy day in Sault Ste. Marie today.

A large tree on Pilgrim Street was blown down, taking with it power lines and coming to rest over the road.

Access to Pilgrim Street was blocked at Wellington and at Tower Road while PUC crews worked to cut up and remove the tree, then repairing the damage it caused.

A bus shelter by the Tim Horton's at the corner of John Street and St. Georges Avenue was also blown down.

Sault Ste. Marie Transit was on the scene inspecting the damage and deciding what to do with the ruined shelter this afternoon.
