************************* OPP lay charges in 2002 Mattawa homicide

NORTH BAY, ON – OPP investigators from North East Region criminal operations and the unsolved homicide investigation team (UHIT) have laid a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Robert Minor that occurred in the town of Mattawa on January 11, 2002.

Emergency services were called to the Minor residence on Fourth Street to a reported fire.

Robert Minor’s body was found in the basement of the residence, a victim of foul play.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Robert Minor died of a single stab wound to the chest.

The investigation under the direction of Detective Inspector Ken Leppert of the OPP’s criminal investigation branch (CIB) involved interviewing numerous witnesses and utilising a multi-disciplinary approach involving experts from the Office of the Chief Coroner, the Ontario Fire Marshall and others.

As a result of this extensive investigation, on Tuesday, January 26, investigators arrested Marieanne Minor, the wife of the deceased, 53 years old, of Westmeath, Ontario and formerly of Mattawa.

Marieanne Minor is scheduled to appear in North Bay Court on January 27 at 10 a.m.
