3:35 p.m. update from Sault Ste. Marie Police Service

UPDATE White Pines now clear

At approximately 1:00 p.m. today officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to White Pines Collegiate and Vocational School regarding a threat being made that a bomb was in the school.

All students were safely evacuated and the school was searched. At this time no devices have been located and officers have cleared the scene. Officers with the Investigation Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are continuing this investigation and anyone with information about this is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

2:25 p.m. update from Sault Ste. Marie Police Service

At approximately 1 p.m. officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to White Pines Collegiate and Vocational School regarding a threat that has been made indicating a bomb was in the school.

Officials are following the emergency protocol and all students have been safely evacuated from the school. Officers are still on scene conducting the investigation however nothing has been located at this time.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Original 1:30 p.m. information

There's another incident at White Pines Collegiate and Vocational School on Trunk Road.

Fran Walsh from Algoma District School Board tells SooToday that all students have been evacuated from the school and taken to an alternate location.

The action was taken due to a "possible threat," Walsh said.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service officers are on site at White Pines and have secured the building.

Last Thursday, the school was placed in hold-and-secure mode due to a threat made through social media.

The board announced later that the a suspect who wasn't on White Pines property, had been apprehended and was in police custody.
