By 5 p.m. last night, shoppers anticipating bargains had lined up all the way from the doors at 480 Pim Street to the entrance of the former Mark's Work Wearhouse in the Blockbuster Plaza.

They weren't disappointed.

The people of Sault Ste. Marie dug deep in their closets to provide the finest high-end shirts, slacks, jeans, jackets, shoes, bags, jewelry and beautiful dresses for this year's Savvy Second Sale by Algoma Family Services.

The sale went from 5 to 11 p.m. yesterday and will run again from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today (Saturday).

There are stacks of sweaters, racks of suits, gorgeous gowns and even a few fur coats for sale.

Suits are going for $10, shirts and sweaters, slacks and skirts for $2 and shoes, even sexy silver lamé Jessica Simpson shoes, for just $2.

All of the money goes to Algoma Family Services to help take care of local childrens' mental health, says Jessica Cavalier, fund-raising coordinator for Algoma Family Services.

"All of the funds raised today go toward early intervention and prevention programs for children's mental health," she said. "All of the funds stay in the Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District."

Cavalier also said the location for this year's sale was a major score for Algoma Family Services.

It's large, open and bright and has plenty of parking.
