*********************** Don't drink and drive and don't cut off a police car

Garden River First Nation, Ont.- A Sault Ste. Marie man has a January court date after cutting off a police car and registering over the limit on a Breathalyzer.

Last night at about 10 p.m. an officer with the Sault Ste. Marie detachment was eastbound on Highway 17 in the Garden River First Nation.

A westbound vehicle passed a transport on the curve near Echo Lake Road.

The officer had to pull onto the shoulder of the roadway to avoid a head on collision.

The officer turned around and caught up to the vehicle and pulled it over. The driver was returned to the OPP detachment for a Breathalyzer test.

He failed the Breathalyzer and has been charged.

Thirty-three-year-old Rolly CHABAN of Sault Ste Marie has been charged with Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Improper Passing contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

He will appear in court on January 3, 2005 to answer to the charges.

Mr. Chaban also had his licence suspended for the next 90 days.
