SAULT STE. MARIE - Hours of operation for City of Sault Ste. Marie facilities and services for the Christmas and New Year holidays are as follows:

CHRISTMAS EVE - DECEMBER 24

Library

All three branches of the public library close at noon - Main, Churchill and Korah.

Transit

Last buses depart from the terminal at 5:45 p.m. on December 24.

The last pick-up or return for Parabus service on December 24 will be at 5:30 p.m.

CHRISTMAS DAY AND BOXING DAY - DECEMBER 25 AND 26

The following municipal facilities will be closed on December 25 and 26 with the exception of Police, Fire and snow plow operations:

    •    Civic Centre
    •    Essar Centre Office and Box Office
    •    Library - Main Branch, Churchill and Korah Branches
    •    Social Services (Ontario Works, Social Housing and Community Child Care)
    •    Transit Office
    •    Accessibility Centre
    •    Essar Centre
    •    John Rhodes Community Centre Arenas and Pool
    •    McMeeken Centre
    •    Seniors’ Centres (Drop-In and Steelton)
    •    Children’s Centres (Maycourt, Jessie Irving, and Best Start - Holy Family)

Transit

Regular transit will not operate on December 25 and 26.

Parabus will run on December 25 and December 26 from 7:30 a.m. to midnight.

Bookings for December 24, 25 and 26 will be taken on Wednesday, December 21.

Bookings for December 27 and 28 will be taken on Thursday, December 22.

DECEMBER 27

Municipal facilities will also be closed on Tuesday, December 27 with the exception of Police, Fire and snow plow operations as well as: the Essar Centre ice pad, John Rhodes Community Centre (arenas and pool) and the McMeeken Centre for scheduled events.  

NEW YEAR’S EVE - DECEMBER 31

Library

The Main Branch and Churchill and Korah Branches close at noon.

All branches will be closed January 1and 2.

Transit

Last buses depart the terminal at 11:45 p.m.

The last pick-up or return for Parabus service on December 31 will be at 11:30 p.m.

Bookings for December 31 to January 3 must be made by Friday, December 30.

Parabus will not run on January 1.

Arenas

Open for scheduled events only on December 31.

NEW YEAR’S DAY - JANUARY 1

The following operations will be closed on New Year’s Day with the exception of Police, Fire and snow plow operations:

    •    Civic Centre
    •    Essar Centre Office and Box Office
    •    Library - Main Branch, Churchill and Korah Branches
    •    Social Services (Ontario Works, Social Housing and Community Child Care)
    •    Transit Office
    •    Accessibility Centre
    •    John Rhodes Community Centre Arenas and Pool
    •    McMeeken Centre
    •    Seniors’ Centres (Drop-In and Steelton)
    •    Children’s Centres (Maycourt, Jessie Irving, and Best Start - Holy Family)

Essar Centre - Open for Mayor’s Celebrate 100! Free Family Skate from 2 to 4 p.m.

JANUARY 2

The following operations will be closed on January 2 with the exception of Police, Fire and snow plow operations:

    •    Civic Centre
    •    Essar Centre Office and Box Office
    •    Library - Main Branch, Churchill and Korah Branches
    •    Social Services (Ontario Works, Social Housing and Community Child Care)
    •    Transit Office
    •    Accessibility Centre
    •    Seniors’ Centres (Drop-In and Steelton)
    •    Children’s Centres (Maycourt, Jessie Irving, and Best Start - Holy Family)
