NEWS RELEASE
************************* Yesterday afternoon at approximately 5:35 p.m., City Police were called to Joe’s Sport and Surplus on Queen Street East regarding a theft.
Upon arrival, officers were advised by a clerk that a male had just stolen a packsack from the store.
The clerk further informed the officers that he had taken a picture of the suspect while he was fleeing.
At approximately 8 p.m., City Police located and arrested Edward Martel, age 46 of 345 St. George’s Avenue East, Apartment 132.
Mr. Martel was charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation.
At approximately 2 a.m. today, City Police were called to 345 St. George’s Avenue East, Apartment 132 regarding a landlord and tenant problem.
When the investigating officers attended at Mr. Martel’s apartment they located a small quantity of a drug believed to be cocaine.
As a result Edward Martel was arrested and charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of breach of probation.
Mr. Martel will be appearing in court on June 1 at 9 a.m.
