Wellington St man charged after kiddie porn investigation

************************* Child pornography investigation leads to arrest and charges

Thirty-two-year-old John Penney of #3-429 Wellington Street East was arrested on the 29th of October at 3:07 p.m. at his residence and charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of importing or distributing child pornography.

On the 27th of October, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s technological crime unit commenced a child pornography investigation involving the accused.

Just after 3 p.m. on the 29th of October, with the assistance of investigation services, the street team and the emergency services unit, a search warrant was executed at the residence of the accused.

It is alleged that during the course of the search, officers found and seized evidence of child pornography, including two computer towers, a series of compact disks, a digital camera and other hardware components.

The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.
