************************* SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - Motorcycle tourism is big business and Algoma Country is working hard to reap the benefits.

Through a partnership between Regional Tourism Organizations 13 B & C, Algoma Country and Tourism Thunder Bay have efforts underway to develop and formalize several motorcycle touring routes across Northern Ontario.

The rock star of all routes will be the Lake Superior Circle Tour.

The Ride Lake Superior brand and route are being created with the goal to become one of the top 10 epic rides in North America.

Through the six-month process so far, the route has been fully mapped including all side routes and connectors, motorcycle-friendly businesses and attractions identified, and a process in place to assist operators cater specifically to riders.

“The natural assets are in place that makes this route incredible. We want to do our homework first to ensure the rider experience is first class both on the bike and off,” says Carol Caputo, executive director of Algoma Country Tourism. Chris Hughes, of BC Hughes Tourism Consulting and an avid rider, will be spending the next 10 days on the routes visiting operators and giving them some simple suggestions to become more rider-friendly.

“Acknowledgement is everything. After a long day on the road in the elements, riders want a friendly smile and some understanding of their needs like secure parking, a rag, and a place to put all their gear,” says Hughes.

Other existing routes like the Algoma Grand Tour, the Deer Trail and St. Joseph’s Island are also included as part the overall tour routing initiative.

Tourism partners in the United States will be brought on board through this process to complete the entire Circle Tour Route! ************************* ////
