Weekend Outlook: Some rare winter sun and warmth

Usually frigid cold accompanies sunshine in the winter, but we may have a rare chance at sun and warmth this weekend at the same time

During periods of snow cover, it's often tough to find a warm sunny day as evaporating snow often brings fog and clouds. Usually frigid cold accompanies sunshine in the winter, but we may have a rare chance at sun and warmth this weekend at the same time.

Friday morning will bring some cloud cover, and then skies will gradually clear later in the day. Temperatures will climb to near  4°C in the late afternoon.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with daytime highs climbing up to near  2°C. Locations near large bodies of water might see more cloud than sun.

A mix of sun and cloud is likely on Sunday with temperatures reaching 3°C. Additional cloud cover arrives in the evening with the chance of light snow after sunset.

A cold north wind early next week drops temperatures back to near seasonal values below freezing. The cold should be short-lived as temperatures a bit above freezing return by the middle of the week.
