Weekend Outlook: Northerly flow brings cooler weather

Long run of warmer than normal weather finally appears to be over

The long run of warmer than normal weather finally appears over as northerly winds pull colder arctic air into the region from the far north.

Normal temperatures for late October would be daytime highs near +10C with morning lows a couple of degrees above freezing. This weekend will struggle to reach those values.

Friday will see clouds move out in the morning and bring sunny skies. A cool northerly wind will keep daytime high temperatures below +10C.

Clear skies overnight will allow for a frosty morning on Saturday. Sunshine will continue across the region, but temperatures remain cool, and a brisk northerly wind will make it feel even cooler.

Clouds move into the region for Sunday with the risk of a shower later in the day. Daytime highs may climb a bit above +10C.

Cooler air moves back into the region to start next week.
