NEWS RELEASE
ST. VINCENT PLACE
*************************
St. Vincent Place is excited to announce our new week-long, two-part event in support of our food bank: the Fight Hunger Games!

Help combat food insecurity in the Sault by taking part in the Fight Hunger Games throughout the first week of June. From June 2 to 8, you can help 'fill the districts' by taking your donations of non-perishable goods to the Station Mall. Donations can be dropped off in any of the three courts throughout the mall.

Then, on June 9 come down to Clergue Park from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. for a family games day. Enjoy classic games like ring toss, three-legged races, ladderball, and bean bag toss, along with some newer games like giant twister and connect four.

Each game will require one ticket to play, and tickets can be purchased at the event for $1 each, or get 30 for $20. Cotton candy and popcorn will also be available for purchase at the Family Games Day.

After enjoying the low-cost fun in support of St. Vincent’s, game winners can enter for a chance to win some of the great prizes that have been donated, including entry passes to Entomica, Fun Farm Indoor Play Center, the Bushplane Heritage Centre, and more!

If you’ll be downtown June 9 anyway for the Sault Symphony Orchestra’s Musicfest at the Bondar Pavillion, consider making a day of it. Take part in some games then walk down the boardwalk to enjoy some music, or vice versa. Between these two great events, there will be something for everyone.

If you’re interested in helping out with the Family Games Day, we could still use a few more volunteers, so please get in touch with Sara McCleary today at 705-253-2770 ext. 4 or [email protected].

We’d like to add a special thank you to the Fight Hunger Games Event Sponsors - JD Aero, No Frills, Northern Dental Care, and Christie’s RV – for their support, as well as the Station Mall for hosting the Fill the Districts food drive.

Every year, the St. Vincent Place food bank helps more than 3,000 individuals, including more than 700 children. We tend to see fewer donations during the summer months, but usage remains high, so our food bank shelves get depleted quickly. We appreciate the community’s support as we work to Fight Hunger in Sault Ste. Marie.
