************************* Marijuana possession

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 21-year-old Joseph Murray of #2-42 Cathcart Street on the 22nd of March at 11:59 a.m. on Wellington Street West after allegedly finding him in possession of two large bags of marijuana while investigating an unrelated matter.

He has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and is to appear in court on the 2nd of May.

************************* Shoplifting arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 37-year-old Selena Burns of 145 Conmee Avenue on the 22nd of March at 1 p.m. at Zellers at the Station Mall and charged her with one count of theft under $5,000.

It is alleged that she attended at the store and stole some medication.

She is to appear in court on the 27th of April.

************************ Outstanding warrants

On the 22nd of March at 11:53 a.m., officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 42-year-old Rodney Morrow of 652 Queen Street West (upstairs) on outstanding warrants at the police station.

He has been charged with one count of failing to appear in court and one count of failing to appear for prints.

He is to attend in court on the 2nd of May.

************************* Domestic-related arrests

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 36-year-old male on the 22nd of March at 9:15 a.m. at his residence after responding to a domestic dispute.

It is alleged that around 8:30 a.m. yesterday morning, the accused assaulted and sexually assaulted his common-law spouse.

When the victim attempted to call the police, the accused [allegedly] kicked in the bedroom door and ripped the phone jack from the wall, damaging both.

Police investigating the incident learned that during a domestic dispute on an earlier date, the accused had [allegedly] burned the victim with a cigarette and also threw a boot at her.

The victim received non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the assaults.

The accused has been charged with two counts of assault, one count of sexual assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of mischief and two counts of breach of probation.

He is to appear in bail court this morning.

*********************** Break and enters

A residence on Grandy Road was entered on the 14th-15th of March. A flat screen television was reported taken.

*********************** Theft from vehicle

A vehicle parked at a Trunk Road hotel was broken into overnight Tuesday. A GPS with a power inverter and two USB ports were reported stolen.
