The U.S. National Weather Service has issued the lake-effect snow advisory below for parts of Chippewa County, including the Michigan Soo.

At the time of writing, no Environment Canada advisories, watches or warnings were in place for SooToday.com country.

However, below-average temperatures will persist through Friday.

Tonight, the temperature is expected to drop to -26°C.

Friday's outlook calls for a low of -25°C and a high of -17°C.

Gradual warming will begin on Saturday and continue into the new week.

LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 AM EST FRIDAY.

WIND CHILL ADVISORY HAS EXPIRED THE WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 AM EST FRIDAY.

LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS WILL INCREASE ACROSS PRIMARILY NORTHERN CHIPPEWA COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO TONIGHT.

SNOW MAY BE LOCALLY HEAVY ALONG AND NORTH OF M- 28 TONIGHT...WITH TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 8 INCHES POSSIBLE BY FRIDAY MORNING.

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY MEANS LAKE EFFECT SNOW IS FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT IN SOME AREAS.

SLOW DOWN AND EXERCISE CAUTION IF TRAVELING.
