OPP NEWS RELEASE

************************* Wawa OPP urges public to watch for moose

WAWA, ON - The Superior East OPP would like to remind drivers that moose and other wildlife are again becoming a concern for motorists traveling on the roadways of this area.

OPP have investigated a total of 20 motor vehicle collisions for the month of June so far, 18 of which involved moose.

Police are reminding motorists that many more moose have been seen on or near the highways with sometimes more than a single animal at a time.

Adjust your speed and watch for wildlife at any time of the day or night while traveling on provincial highways.

After dark is the worst as the animals are hard to see.

We would recommend that after-dark driving be kept to a minimum if possible.
