A traffic complaint earlier this month has led to an impaired driving charge against a 47-year-old from Wawa.

Officers with the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to the complaint shortly after 4 p.m. on Dec. 4, after receiving a call about a potentially impaired driver on Broadway Avenue in Wawa.

After an investigation, Pascal Gagnon of Wawa was arrested and charged with operation while impaired (alcohol and drugs).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear again in a Wawa court on Jan. 8, 2024.

Gagnon was issued a 90-day administrative drivers licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The allegation has yet to be tested in court and Gagnon is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
