Wanted man arrested on Blind River street faces drug charges

Police say charges against 39-year-old include possession for the purpose of trafficking

BLIND RIVER – A person wanted by police who was spotted walking down a street in Blind River yesterday was arrested and found to be in possession of suspected opioids, according to the East Algoma OPP.

The OPP say shortly after 3 p.m., police observed a person that was wanted walking on Woodward Avenue.

Police arrested the individual on Murray Street, according to an OPP news release.

Police allege while searching the man they located over 5 grams of suspected fentanyl and five pills of suspected hydromorphone (street value $950) as well as more than $200 in Canadian currency.

As a result, Jason Guy, 39, of Blind River was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance-Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order-other than to attend court

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on March 7.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Guy is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
