Three out of four Canadians know someone with dementia. It touches so many homes in every community.

With 25,000 Canadians diagnosed with dementia each year and no cure yet, the need to support people with dementia and their caregivers, has never been greater. Dementia is more than just numbers. Friends, families and members of our communities all experience the personal and social impact of dementia. For our health-care system and economy this means higher demand for services and soaring costs. It’s not just their disease. It’s ours too.

What can you do to help? Sign up for the local indoor Walk for Alzheimer’s at White Pines Secondary School on Sunday, Jan. 28. When you join the Walk, you will be supporting programs and services that are provided at no cost to local people with dementia and their caregivers so that they can live better today, and have the tools to cope with the changes of tomorrow.

To register for the local Walk for Alzheimer’s or if you simply want to donate online, get started here. Pledge forms are also available at the local office at 341 Trunk Rd., The Shoe Fits! and the Family YMCA.
