With most of the results from yesterday's referendum now tallied, Ontario voters have overwhelmingly voted to retain the current first-past-the-post electoral system. First-past-the-post - 2,662,110 votes - 63.

With most of the results from yesterday's referendum now tallied, Ontario voters have overwhelmingly voted to retain the current first-past-the-post electoral system.

First-past-the-post

- 2,662,110 votes - 63.2 percent - 102 ridings

Mixed member proportional (MMP)

- 1,548,493 votes - 36.8 votes - 5 ridings

27,196 of 27,679 polls reporting

To pass, MMP needed to garner at least 60 percent of the vote.

It also had to pass in at least 54 ridings.

Thus Ontario voters will retain the current first-past-the-post system in future elections.
