BRENT ST. DENIS, MP ALGOMA-MANITOULIN-KAPUSKASING

********************** St. Denis and Liberals pleased to have labour leader's support December 5th, 2005 (Elliot Lake) - On December 2, 2005 one of the most influencial Labour Leaders in Canada, Canadian Auto Workers' Union President Buzz Hargrove congratulated Prime Minister Paul Martin on the achievements of his government.

Mr. Hargrove called for the Liberal minority government to be returned to office in greater numbers, telling unionized workers they should vote strategically to elect the Liberals to form a strong and stable government.

As part of his opening remarks at the CAW Annual General Meeting in Toronto, Mr. Hargrove expressed his support for the government's dedication to the health care system, its commitment to communities, the national child care program, social housing and support for the forestry and automotive industries.

In particular, he expressed appreciation for an additional $600 million a year for workplace training and for the Bankruptcy and Wage Earner Protection Acts which provide much needed protection to workers.

"This minority government deserves to go back to Ottawa, with even bigger numbers," said Hargrove. "... This has been one of the most productive parliaments in the history of our Canada."

"I am very pleased that CAW leader Buzz Hargrove has indicated his support for our Liberal government's achievements," said St. Denis. "Mr. Hargrove's statement shows that our government's focus on a strong economy and a balanced approach to investment in social programs, tax cuts and debt reduction is the best approach for Canadians, particularly those who depend on labour-related sectors of our economy such as forestry."

Following Mr. Hargrove's statement, the Prime Minister made it clear that the choice Canadians face is between the Conservatives and the Liberals; either Mr. Martin or Mr. Harper.
