A U.S. operator of short-line and regional freight railroads has reportedly signed a joint venture agreement with Borealis developer Philip Garforth, aimed at acquiring the Agawa Canyon Tour Train from Canadian National.

Northern Ontario Business is quoting Garforth as saying that he's secured a deal with Patriot Rail of Boca Raton, Florida.

The tour train passes through the edge of the Gateway property and the developer wants to make it part of his Borealis project.

A spokesman for Patriot Rail described the talks with Garforth as being in "early stages."

Last week, Sault Ste. Marie City Council directed its legal staff to review the Borealis project's status after Garforth failed to provide a construction schedule demanded by the City.
