(Updated) Bear sends kids, crossing guards running

Faithful SooToday.com reader Tanya Forster snapped this picture of a bear today at 8:30 a.m. She spotted the bear venturing onto Shannon Road from Capp Ave. before it took off down Ohio Drive.

Faithful SooToday.com reader Tanya Forster snapped this picture of a bear today at 8:30 a.m.

She spotted the bear venturing onto Shannon Road from Capp Ave. before it took off down Ohio Drive.

According to Forster, children, crossing guards and parents all ran for cover as soon as the bear was noticed.

The bear was eventually treed by City Police and Ministry of Natural Resources staff in a backyard in the Boundary Road/ Trunk Road area, where it was tranquilized and removed.
