Five officers from Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) have left White River after completing their field work on Saturday's shooting death of Edmonton fugitive Jason Bernard Logan. A post-mortem was conducted yesterday but SIU spokesperson Rose Bliss told SooToday.com that results will not be immediately released.

The investigators have interviewed the officers who chased Logan shortly before he was found between the cars of a stopped train with what an OPP statement described as a "self-inflicted" gunshot wound.

The SIU will determine what role, if any, police played in his death.

Logan, 32, was an inlaw of Shania Twain's half-brother Darryl Twain.

OPP conducted an extensive ground-and-air search for Logan after he bolted into the bush last Wednesday when police found handgun ammunition in a vehicle in which he was a passenger.
