Silvana Carlascio, principal at St. Mary's French Immersion school, says her only concern about the new addition module to her school is its roof.

"We want to put a really big heavy sign up there," Carlascio told Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board trustees last night.

"We want everyone to know there is a Catholic French immersion school in Sault Ste. Marie," she said. "We want them to know where it is."

Architect Chris Tossell was at last night's board meeting to present preliminary drawings of the new school.

He told the board that, if all goes as planned, the new school should be ready for occupancy in September 2008.

"This project is well within the experience level of the bondable contractors we have locally," Tossell told the board. "There's every chance we will get as many as five or six good local bids on it."

The eight classroom addition will be attached to the school at the east wall of the gymnasium and main entrance and will feature at least one skylight.

The foundation is expected to be in the ground before winter and installation of the module will take place over the summer of 2008.
