Update on search for man missing in Espanola area

************************* OPP continue searching for missing man

ESPANOLA, ON - Members of the Espanola Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing their search for a missing man and are appealing to the public for their assistance.

Christopher Greenman, age 36, who is originally from Manitoulin Island but had been working in the Meaford, ON area.

He was reported missing to Grey County OPP on Sunday, April 13, 2008.

Further investigation revealed that he was last seen walking in the town of Espanola on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at approximately 6:30 a.m.

Officers also received information that he was going fishing.

His last contact with family was at 3 p.m. that afternoon when he made a call and left a message for his brother.

He is described as white male, 5”9”, 165 lbs, medium build with short brown hair with a receding hair line and blue eyes.

He also has a scar, approximately five centimeters in length, on his left forearm.

He was last seen wearing a dark winter coat and carrying a small bag containing clothes and a shaving kit.

The OPP helicopter conducted an air search of the area yesterday (April 16, 2008).

Today, an OPP Emergency Response Team and canine unit are also assisting with a ground search of the Spanish River banks.

As well, the OPP Marine Unit is searching the waterways of the Spanish River.

The Espanola OPP Crime Unit continue to investigate and is asking anyone who may have seen Mr. Greenman, or have any information on his whereabouts to please contact the Espanola OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
