Police are saying they still don't know how many people died, or their identities, in a two vehicle crash yesterday evening on Highway 69.

"Investigation reveals that a northbound sports utility vehicle crossed the centre line into the path of a southbound tractor trailer when it collided," says an OPP news release. "Upon impact, the SUV became engulfed in flames. All occupants of the SUV have been confirmed deceased and police are still determining the number of occupants."

The crash took place just south of the Shawanaga River Bridge and Highway 69 was closed for approximately eight hours, reopening around midnight.

The West Parry Sound OPP assisted by Carling Fire Department, McDougall Fire Department and Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services responded to the two vehicle crash on Highway 69 in the Shawanaga First Nation Territory.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing with the assistance of OPP Collision Reconstructionist specialists.

Further information will be released as it becomes available.
