Woman taken to hospital with life threatening injuries following collision (6 photos)

Driver charged as result of collision

Three people were taken to hospital following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Northern Avenue and Great Northern Road this morning.

City police say that officers with the traffic services division responded to the collision at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Fire and EMS were also on scene. 

According to police, a Hyundai Santa Fe headed northbound on Great Northern Road collided with a southbound Chevrolet Avalanche while attempting to turn left on to Northern Avenue.

The 87 year-old passenger of the Santa Fe was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. 

Both the driver of the Chevrolet Avalanche and the Santa Fe were also taken to hospital with injuries.

The driver of the Santa Fe, an 88 year-old male, has been charged with failure to yield to traffic on a through highway.
