Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a crash between two tractor trailers that shut down a section of Highway 17 for about 13 hours on Friday.

Emergency crews were called to the collision near Basswood Lake Road in the Municipality of Huron Shores just after 8:15 a.m. on Feb. 9.

They say the crash was between a red eastbound tractor trailer and white westbound tractor trailer.

The 36-year-old driver of the red truck was taken to hospital in Sudbury with “life-altering” injuries.

The other driver, a 53-year-old from Ancaster Township, was taken to hospital in Thessalon with non-life-threatening injuries.

The OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team is assisting with the investigation.
