HIGHLIGHTS:

• 2 new; 7 active fires

• 211 fires; 2825.8 hectares to date since April 1

DETAILS:

There have been two new fires in the last 24 hours; North Bay 20 and Parry Sound 16.

Active fires include: Cochrane 20 and 22; lightning fires west of Fort Albany, Bancroft 7; a 1.5 hectare lightning fire, Sault 19 a 0.2 hectare lightning fire, Sudbury 59; a 7.0 hectare fire on Manitoulin Island and Wawa 24; a 2.5 hectare lightning fire.

Weather will continue to be cloudy with a mix of sun and cloud with showers and thunderstorms developing through the day as the moist unstable air mass remains across much of the East Fire Region.

Eastern regions of southern Ontario will remain sunny or a mix of sun and cloud until later in the day when showers and isolated thunderstorms push towards the Quebec border.

Temperatures rise to above seasonal with light to moderate winds developing through the day.

The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds the public that before burning please check with your municipality to be advised of their burning regulations.

Please use caution with outdoor fires.

Never leave your fire unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving.
