Two face multiple charges in Espanola drug bust

OPP NEWS RELEASE

ESPANOLA, ON - On April 15, 2013, members of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Sudbury Drug Enforcement Unit in partnership with the Espanola Police Service, Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service, United Chiefs and Council of Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police Service and the Manitoulin Island Detachment of the OPP, conducted a vehicle stop in the Town of Espanola.

As a result of this investigation 2941 grams of marihuana, $220.00 cash, packaging material a debt list and a canister of bear spray were seized.

Two males were arrested and have been charged with various drug and weapon related offences.

Patrick Rowan was held in custody while Michael Samis was released on Bail to attend court on May 7 ,2013.

The street value of the drugs seized is $44,115 

Charged are:

Patrick Rowan, age 31 of Cobourg, Ontario. 

• Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
• Carry a Concealed Weapon
• Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon in Motor Vehicle
• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
• Possession of a Weapon while Prohibited (2 counts)
• Breach of Recognizance
• Obstruct/Resist Peace Officer

Michael Samis, age 30 of Cobourg, Ontario

• Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of  Property Obtained by Crime
• Carry a Concealed Weapon
• Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon in Motor Vehicle
• Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
