Two face drug charges after vehicle stopped

OPP NEWS RELEASE

************************* ELLIOT LAKE, ON - July 6, 2010, while on general patrol officers of the East Algoma OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 108.

At approximately 12:35 p.m., the vehicle was stopped and through investigation two people were charged.

Charged with the following is a 17-year-old female youth of Elliot Lake:

- Possession of cocaine

- Possession of other drugs.

Also charged with the following is Keith Meawasige (31) of Culter, Ontario:

- Possession of other drugs

- Possession for the purpose

- Fail to comply (X5).

Meawasige was remanded to Sault Ste Marie awaiting a bail hearing.

The youth is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on August 31, 2010.

The name of the youth will not be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
