Tulloch Engineering donates generously to Algoma U

************************* Tulloch Engineering supports biosciences and technology at Algoma University

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON (May 6, 2011) - Algoma University's Essential Elements Campaign has received a generous donation of $25,000 from Tulloch Engineering to support the Biosciences and Technology Convergence Centre (BTCC).

The BTCC is a $21.4 million building that will create and support opportunities for education, research and development in the fields of science and technology.

Brian Curran, chair of the Essential Elements Campaign, and Dr. Richard Myers, Algoma University president, were at Tulloch Engineering to accept a cheque from Mr. Michael Tulloch, president, Mr. Ted Wall, project manager and Mr. John MacDonald, project manager.

Speaking about this generous donation, Mr. Tulloch said: "The presence of Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie is essential to the cultural and economic growth of the Region. The university is instrumental in shaping our future business and community leaders. It is critical that local businesses support this initiative, and we are happy to do our part."

"Algoma University can only realize its tremendous potential if it has the strong financial support from businesses like Tulloch Engineering who believe in the power of education to change the future," said Mr. Curran. "We thank Tulloch Engineering for their support of the Essential Elements Campaign."

Essential Elements: The campaign for Algoma University is raising $6 million to support:

- Scholarships and bursaries: to ensure access for all Algoma University students

- Science & technology: research facilities and activities centred in the Biosciences and Technology Convergence Centre

- Artistic and cultural endeavours: support for fine arts and music education, centred in the new Fine Arts and Education Centre.
