************************* Cyclist killed Highway 17

ESPANOLA, ON - In the early morning of September 15 at 2:25 a.m., officers from the Espanola Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police investigated a fatal collision where a cyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 17, just west of Webbwood, on the CPR overpass, Sables-Spanish River Township.

A westbound tractor-trailer was stopped by Blind River OPP officers a short time later and the driver was arrested and charged.

The cyclist, a 22-year-old male, Harley Lambert of Webbwood was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem will be conducted today.

Charged with fail to remain at scene of accident cause death contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada is Harsimron Marahar, 20, of Cambridge, Ontario.

He was held in custody and will appear for a bail hearing today.
