Transport driver taken to hospital after highway collision

WAWA - At approximately 8:38 p.m. on September 27, 2014 the Superior East Wawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single tractor trailer collision on Highway 17 just South of Wawa.

OPP investigators have determined that an International Prostar tractor trailer was traveling northbound on Highway 17 in the Rabazo Township when it left the roadway striking a rock cut causing it to engulf in flames, the trailer ended across the Highway blocking both the southbound and northbound lanes.

The driver of the tractor trailer was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending

The Wawa Volunteer fire department and Ambulance attended the scene.
