The Thunder Bay Source is reporting that 16 rail cars containing wood pulp have derailed near Rossport on the north shore of Lake Superior.

One of the derailed cars rolled down an embankment and went through the ice into Lake Superior, the newspaper says.

Another car followed a similar path but remained on top of the frozen lake.

The derailment happened yesterday.

CP Rail crews are mopping up and hope to have the track reopened by noon tomorrow.
