Traffic stop results in drug charges

On the 11th January at approximately 7:50 pm, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Church Street and at the time, they found a male in the company of a female that he was not to be with due to previous domestic related charges. 

The male was also bound by the conditions of a recognizance order to remain outside of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, remain in his residence between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. except in the presence of his surety. 

As a result, the 32 year-old male was arrested and charged with three counts of breach of recognizance. 

At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of some morphine tablets and was also charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance. 

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $600.00. 

The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.
